St. Albans is a historic unincorporated community in Franklin County, MO. The community was founded in 1837 and named after St Albans, in England. It is home to several places on the National Register of Historic Places including the St. Albans General Store, St. Albans Farms Stone Barn are on, and Tavern Cave, which was visited by the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
The Country Club of St. Albans began when 5,400 acres of land surrounding the village of St. Albans were purchased in 1988 to develop homes and a country club. In 1992, the Lewis and Clark course was opened along with the St. Albans clubhouse. A second course, Tavern Creek opened in June of 1997.
Boles Fire Protection District was founded in 1971 by a merger of the Labadie Fire Department and the Gray Summit Fire Department, forming the first tax supported fire district in Franklin County. Today they serve and protect residents of northeast Franklin County, including the four Townships of Labadie, Villa Ridge, Gray Summit, and St. Albans.
St. Albans Free Library was originally formed in the 1860s, but after the Great Fire of 1895 consumed most of the books, the remaining books were relocated until the present St. Albans Free Library was completed in 1902.
